Sweden Day 1

We landed in Stockholm at 6:45 this morning. That flight from New Jersey is no easy plane ride! We were lucky though to have good seats by a window, free movies and tv shows on the flight, two meals served, the announcement that Germany had won the world cup, AND a soft landing!

It is awesome to be in Stockholm, where Kevin spent two years of his life away from me. He had a huge smile on his face from excitement off being back. It was really cute! I had a smile on my face for the flight being over and the great green "run to the exit"signs everywhere!

After we had gone through customs, we promptly walked through the airport to find our three day SL train passes. They are super convenient...also Stockholm is not cheap, so it will be a great time trying to keep a budget. We spent a total of 460 Swedish Krona on the bus passes, which converts to about $70. Get them though if you travel here. Train is the easiest way to travel!

It was almost 8 AM at this point, and even though we were jet lagged, we were ready to see the town. Kevin first took me to Gamlastan. This is an island that has the Royal Palace and Parliament. It also has beautiful churches, cobble stone streets, and amazing architecture. Some of the roads look like you stepped into a Harry Potter movie and you are on Diagon Alley...I know the movie was filmed in London, but still cool! We just walked around at this point, and haven't checked anything out in depth, but we will be going back!

After realizing that the jet lag is hitting me, and I'm getting grumpy from being so tired...we head to the Stockholm temple where we are staying in the guest house. It is awesome to be so close to the temple. (Oh, quick note...there are a lot of bathrooms you have to pay to use in Stockholm...also a reason I got grumpy because I needed to go and we don't have money yet)

We got to the temple and they told us our room wasn't ready yet. I felt my body slump as it was 11 AM and they told us our room probably wouldn't be ready until 2 PM. That is so disheartening for tired people who just want to lay down. I at least got to go to the bathroom. The amazing part was, as we just sat on the second floor, trying to charge our phone and gather ourselves in what to do next...a worker saw us and asked if we were ok, because we obviously looked tired. We told her of our travels and how exhausted we were. She went right to the front desk, asked them about our room...and more amazingly it was ready! Hallelujah...glorious blessings!! We were so happy! It cost us about $130 to stay in our room for three nights, which is a great price in Sweden!

Also, that shower was the best feeling EVER! After traveling for nearly 24 hours, that is hard to beat. Then Kevin and I laid down for a 5 hour, amazing nap!
